Musings of a former Bratinella

This week has been all about golf (boring, NOT! hehe). I had to do some serious cheerleading / wifely duties since DH had a golf tournament in Cavite. The suburbs was not as bad as I expected and much to my comfort there were malls (thank God!) plus Tagaytay was only 30 minutes away YEHEY!!

The golf event was in Sherwood and I stole some shots while Venz was teeing off.

Since Tagayatay was just a stones throw away, DH and I decided to try out Tagaytay restos as suggested by my
Food Bible
. First stop was Santis Tagaytay (sorry no pics here, didn’t bring my cam). This resto is just along Aguinaldo hi-way, the place is small and very cozy, think log cabin + french shabby chic. Venj had French onion soup, which was yummy, (but he still claims that the FOS in Helmsley in NY is still the best!) and the lamb dish with Cabarnet sauce which are both very good. I had a swiss inspired dish which for me was a glorified prokchop w/ kechup dish. It was good, but something that our housecook or even myself do. Oh but iced tea in this place was good, with just the right hint of strawberry.

When DH made the cut (making cuts in golf means, a guaranteed earning for him) we had to celebrate, so up in Tagaytay again! This time we tried out Fire Lake  Grill in the Cliffhouse.

The place by itself is date-worthy

Salad (Blackened Beef w/ Greens and thai chili sauce), this made my week.Perfect for someone who wants the feeling of indulgence but is perennially on a diet (ME!)

My DH’s 16 oz. steak, this is actually good to share but big boys have huge appetites! He got the Cowgirl steak that’s herbed rubbed and comes with foie gras butter.

I wanted to try the wines but Venz had an early tee time and we had to be back safely in Gen. Trias. This resto definitely deserves a second visit. The food was rich but not overwhelming and service (c/o Jun our server) was impeccable. Oh but I found the iced tea here too sweet. Hehe, I’m obviously obsessed with iced tea.

I had the privilege to watch my husband do what loves and does best on our last day. He may not have earned much but I’m happy and I feel very lucky to see, document and witness the love of my life living his dream.

Most people dont know how much I indulge myself in books, and with the golfing (slash boring) trip coming up, I did my usual Fully Booked hoarding just so I’d be busy when he does his game and something to cushion my tantrums just in case I felt like having them. I got books which I’ve been longing to read. For starters, I got both book 6 and 7 of Harry Potter.

HarryPotterHalfBloodPrinceBook

PotterHallowsBOOK

Well, admittedly, I didn’t understand the film, oh ok, parts of it so it was pleasure to go back to the source. Honestly, I find that the book is more gripping than the movie, am not saying the movie was a disaster, it wasn’t. It simply  gave me the impression that the film could not stand alone, (without you reading the books or at least seeing the previous ones) but no genius could contain the length and depth of such literature in a flick, even a 3 hour film for that matter. I’m so glad the last installment will come in 2 parts, hope that gives justice to the DETAILS of the story. Enough of adolescent wizards and my film critic tendencies, don’t listen to me, I’m no authority.

Aside from Harry, I got books that somewhat reflect what I want in life now,

I’m not at least YET on the family way, but I’d want to have a kid in the  future. And being the control freak that I am a little research here and there won’t hurt, which explains why I purchased the book.

I also got this, I’ve been wanting to get the hard bound and leather embellished version but my futile attempts were unsuccessful so I’d have to be content with the paperback version.

BHTB pb COVER

The book cover says it all “My life in the pursuit for the world’s most coveted handbag, lame I know, but we all have our priorities. Mine is just a teeny bit twisted. My DH who’s usually NR over my ramblings, out of the blue asked me

DH: “Which of the 2 would you want to have first, Birkin or Baby”

ME: Thinking in my head, “man, tough question”, “why do you ask such questions?”

In attempt not to answer his question  directly (well, I wouldn’t want to appear such a baby-sick housewife, and moreover, I didn’t want to look too materialistic), I said:

ME: Whatever book I can open the easiest, fastest is what I’ll get first. (The books were wrapped in protective plastic btw)

My hands grabbed the “baby book” but it refused to open 😦 the scotch tape was just so secured in the book! Then I got the BHTB book and without much effort the adhesive glided off the plastic covering in an instant. I didn’t know what to feel. Was it what I truly wanted? Was it’s nature telling me that I’d baby sit bags better than babies? I don’t like the drama. But a real Birkin in my closet would make me really happy, and so would a baby.. hehe.

Anyway, in an effort to cheer myself up, I grabbed one last book I got and promised myself to try every single resto listed in the book!07272009145

It’s a sure handy book for eaters and non-cooks out there! The 2009 version is updated and includes new restos that you wouldn’t normally try without a slight pushing. And oh, scanning through its pages are comforting, made me forget the birkin or baby dilemma. 🙂

I’ve been experiencing a case of blog backlog so many things to share so little time.

I’m currently home alone for 2 weeks, since DH has some business (business=golf) to attend to in Davao and CDO, talk about being a golf widow, sucks nah? I’m trying to fill my social calendar so days would fly, let’s see how I can manage on that, just wish my laziness won’t get in the way.

It’s the end of June and a half a year has passed! My list of goals for the year, aka my resolutions, are still lacking in check marks (so what’s new? hehe) but on the brighter side I have 6 more months to work on them, but for now I’m uninspired and I’m giving way to my bratty tendencies.

On-sale!! Love it 🙂

Today I facilitated a waxing training workshop w/ my technicians yup, Celebrity Nails Makati also offers waxing, I gave them a brief lecture about waxing, history, dos and donts and ofcourse practical application. My driver was kawawa since he served as our waxing model for the day. He’s now officially the driver with the smoothest, leg free hair in all of Makati! bwahaha! Please call the numbers in our website if you would need waxing services in the comfort of your own homes! Shameless plugging I know!

Right after my workshop I did wifely duties by going to Sta. Elena w/ DH. Going to Sta. E still gives me that nostalgic air for DH and I first met there.

In one of these tables to be exact… ♥

While waiting for him, I took a few shots using my dslr, they’re futile attempts I know but baby steps, I’ll get there.

Going home was hell, I hate South Superhighway traffic we had to pass thru Alabang, BF, Better living & Bicutan just to avoid the bumper to bumper ride. It was a good 2 hours of my day spent on the road!

Wifely duties for now, Venj is sick (again!)
